Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to play both hockey and lacrosse?
A: No, you may choose to play just one sport or both. Campers who select both sports alternate between field hockey and lacrosse each session.

Q: Do I have to pay full tuition to hold my space?
A: No, you may make a $200 deposit. You will be sent an invoice for the balance, which is due on June 1st.

Q: When is my final payment due?
A: June 1st

Q: Will I be billed automatically?
A: Payments made online through our website or made to the registration office by credit card will be charged on June 1st.

Q: Who will be my coaches?
A: Our coaches are professional educators from around the world. Coaches are college graduates who are currently coaching their own college or high school programs. Assistant Coaches are college players and assist during sessions and live in the dorms with campers.

Q: Do I need my own equipment?
A: Yes, you will need to bring your own equipment which is listed on the download "packing and planning." We have equipment for sale at the camp store.

Q: May I bring my physical forms to camp.
A: We prefer to have them ahead of time. However, you may bring them to all camps except Massachusetts, which is due June 15th.

Q: I am coming to camp by air. Is it possible to arrange a ride from the airport?
A: Yes, please call the registration office with flight information. There will be a transportation fee.

Q: My team is coming to camp this summer. Is it possible to arrange a charter bus?
A: Yes, Merestead Sports Camps will arranage bus service for groups of 15 or more. A charperone from the group must travel on the bus with the group. Fees are based upon the number of travelers.

Q: How will I be assigned a roommate?
A: We make every effort to assign roommates based upon your request on our registration form. Those who do not list a roommate are matched by age and experience. Most of our locations have double rooms. Bryn Mawr College has mostly single rooms and campers are placed side by side.

Q: Do you offer scholarships?
A: We offer scholarships through US Lacrosse.

Q: How many people make up a team for team camp?
A: We would like teams to be groups of at least 12 players. If we have interest from two small groups, we may ask if you want to join together.

Q: Can High School Coaches come to team camp?
A: Yes, High School coaches may attend team camp, however they may not coach their own group.

WHAT TO BRING

* Cleated or turf shoes for the fields
* Sneakers for indoor play
* Hockey stick or lacrosse stick, depending on sports selection (available for purchase at our Camp Store)
* Mouth guard (all sports), shin guards (hockey), and protective goggles (lacrosse), MANDATORY. (available for purchase at our Camp Store)
* Full goalkeeping protective equipment (goalies only) ; i.e., helmet, throat protector, gloves, chest & hip pads and gloves.
* Personal first aid supplies (for example, athletic tape, Band-Aids, and aspirin). You must provide your own.
* Fan (optional)
* Extension cord (optional)
* Alarm clock
* Sheets (or sleeping bag), pillow, and towels
* Nonvaluable personal items only

CAMP RULES

1. Attendance is mandatory for all daily sessions and meals.
2. Smoking is not permitted.
3. Use or posession of illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, and/or weapons by campers is not permitted.
4. Cars driven by campers must remain on campus for the duration of the session.
5. Visitors are allowed only with permission from the camp director. NO visitors or parents are allowed in dorms after Sunday check-in.
6. The directors reserve the right to send home, at parent�s expense, any individual or group in violation of the Camp Rules, or not willing to further the interest of the camp community.
7. Campers who leave camp early for any reason will not receive a refund.
8. Campers are financially responsible for any damage to school or camp property.
9. Violation of camp rules jeopardizes future attendance for schools and individuals.
